Gig 10: Saturday, August 14, 2004, Maple Grove Nightclub, Maple Heights, Ohio
An night of killer garage noise that will certainly twist your head! Starting with Dropgun, dirty Akron rock-and-rollers; continuing with yours truly; and finishing up with "rock incarnates" Missile Toe! Be there, or regret it for the rest of your miserable life.
Gig 9: Saturday, July 24, 2004, Maple Grove Nightclub, Maple Heights, Ohio
This was to be our rescheduled appearance with Goiter Jelly and, according to the website, Rock Hard. Rock Hard disappeared from the website -- we figure it was just an exhortation to us other bands. And Goiter Jelly never appeared at the gig! No matter; we had a great time playing with the Anthony James Band; super guys and super musicians. Pictorial evidence of this event is available.
Gig 8: Friday, May 21, 2004, Maple Grove Nightclub, Maple Heights, Ohio
The vaporgig: we came, we waited, we went home. Seems we had wandered into the one small enclave still without power due to the spectacular storms of the afternoon. Good thing there were plenty of candles by which to drink the beer before it went warm. We enjoyed hanging with Goiter Jelly, but not Morticia's Chair, who apparently have no patience for unpoweredness. A good time was had by all as you can see here.
Gig 7: Saturday, February 7, 2004, Maple Grove Nightclub, Maple Heights, Ohio
Back to our favorite place to play with Bluto's Revenge and Hybrid Factor. We're first up, followed up by Bluto's Revenge. I haven't seen Bluto's since Tim left the band, and wasn't sure what they've been up of late. It was great to see Andy and Chuck and Mr. New Bass Player (so sorry, I didn't get his name) in fine form. They played a set of new (to my ears) material, but of course they closed with their infamous signature "You Broke My Heart I Broke Your Face." Great! Look for another TTW/Bluto's gig in the near future.
Hybrid Factor followed with some of the most entertaining music I've heard in quite awhile.
Gig 6: Friday, January 30, 2004, Annabelle's, Akron, Ohio
Our first appearance in Summit County, set up by our friends in Dropgun. And a co-o-o-ld appearance it was in the basement of Annabelle's. When playing there, please don't forget: never open both back doors simultaneously, or all molecular motion goes right out.
Cold or not, we warmed the place up with a rocking set. Utter Trash was kind enough to come out to see us, and posted a review and pictures. In case you're wondering, the towering behemoth in the last picture is our bass player, Russ.
On came Dropgun and blasted out enough old school punk to set the place ablaze despite the temperature. A-farqing awesome! We're planning to return the favor by setting something up with Dropgun Cleveland-side, and they are not to be missed. Stay tuned!
Gig 5: Friday, December 12, 2003, Maple Grove Nightclub, Maple Heights, Ohio
A Cleveland/Akron holiday multimedia extravaganza blast with The Totally Wired, Missle Toe, and The Masons. Jeff and MT are in fine form, as are The Masons. Scene Magazine later terms Missle Toe "the embodiment of rock and roll." And to think we shared the same stage with such legends! A good turnout, and much holiday cheer is had by all.
Gig 4: Tuesday, November 25, 2003, Beachland Tavern, Cleveland, Ohio
Jay finally secures a date for us at the Beachland! We open for Pleasure Club, James Hall's (ex-Mary My Hope) latest gig. Shorter set than usual, but then it turns out we have more time, so we tack on Ring of Fire (RIP JC) and "The Ho Song" after much prompting from our small but enthusiastic fan set. Seems that a few of the PC goers also are bouncing to our groove. At least enough did to secure us a return invitation. Dr. Barman had a horrendous case of the catarrh, as did Mrs. and the Princess, but he heard that PC played an awesome set. If you weren't there, you missed it!
Gig 3: Saturday, October 18, 2003, Maple Grove Nightclub, Maple Heights, Ohio
Nick from the Maple Grove is way cool, and let us play again. We opened for Evan James and the Snakes, from Atlanta, followed by Elyria's own SOL. Dale was hoping Evan's sidekick would hump the microphone stand, but somehow he missed it.
Gig 2: Friday, August 29, 2003, Maple Grove Nightclub, Maple Heights, Ohio
Our first appearance at the Maple Grove. We played first, followed by The Reason and Triplebeam. Some little shit drummer thought he was in charge and convinced Jay to shorten the set. Lucky for him I didn't have that ninth shot of Jameson.
Gig 1: Saturday, August 2, 2003, No Excuses Nightclub, North Olmsted, Ohio
Well, it's been quite awhile from Gig 0 to Gig 1, but we're on the schedule. Let's hope we're ready! Maybe we should start by coming up with a set list. We do have a flyer, courtesy of Matthew, which you can see here. Apparently we're playing with a band from Chicago called 13 Flowers, but I haven't been able to dig up any info on them. For a map to the club, click here. If you can't read a map, e-mail me with your starting location, and I'll gladly reply with detailed directions.
Gig 0: Saturday, November 16, 2002, Central Labor Hall, Tiffin, Ohio
Our first gig, or maybe proto-gig, or maybe Gig #0, since we didn't have a bass player. Matthew's friend Andy (then of Stabbed at Gunpoint) put the show together in their hometown of Tiffin and asked us to play. Of course we wanted to play, but as the search for a bassist was looking grim, we decided to go for it as a three-piece. We were apprehensive about readiness, and being bassless, and fitting in with a lot of metal bands, and the potential crowd. It turned out to be a rollicking good time for all. See some pictures here.
